I’m a native of Virginia, my colorful paintings pay homage to my southern and faith-based background, capturing the calmness of nature and the peace that can be found through the sacred elements of landscape.

I delight in sharing my God-given gift to All by capturing the

beauty of things around us that often go unnoticed.

My first commission was for the late Major Dorothy Bittenger,

of the founder of the Salvation Army

(William Booth) and I later completed a portrait of the Former

Mayor Davies of Fredericksburg.

I’m skilled in several different mediums and art forms which

include Oil painting, Acrylic painting, Graphite pencil drawing

and mixed media.

I’ve participated in solo and group exhibitions in

Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Colonial Beach Va,

Chroma International’s Exhibition

at Pepco Edison Place Gallery, Washington DC. and

Fredericksburg Fine Art exhibits, Fredericksburg Center for

Creative Arts (FCCA) and the Fredericksburg Area Museum

“SEEN” Exhibit.

You can find my art in the Darbytown Art Studio and Gallery,

Fine Art America: additionally you can find my art in

numerous private collections, churches and businesses and

Mary Washington Hospital. I recently had exhibits at five

venues simultaneously; Fredericksburg Visitors Center,

Fredericksburg Center for Creative Arts, Lifepoint Women’s

Conference and Fredericksburg Area Museum and

Libertytown Art Gallery.

I’m honored to be the First African American Female Visual

Artist to be interviewed and featured in the First Lady of

Virginia’s Sisterhood Spotlight.

My primary goal is to paint and draw for self-expression

inspiration and relaxation.

I believe that Art is very much like music in its ability to

touch, inspire and uplift.

I use both of my God-Given gifts of song and

painting as a way of helping people.

I strive for my artwork to convey positive emotions and

invoke an uplifting response in the viewer, providing them

with a temporary escapism.

My mission is to shine a little light into a sometimes

seemingly dark world while providing viewers with a sense of

calmness and peace.

Maureen McDaniel affectionately called Mo is a native of the island of Jamaica in the West Indies.

Her fascination with the beautiful blue waters, white sandy beaches including the flora and fauna  of the island was a great inspiration that led to her ability to create artwork.

Being self taught, her knowledge came through close observation to shades, shapes, and movements in nature that combines to create a beautiful scenery.

Maureen resides in the USA and continues to appreciate, capture, and create the beauty of nature at home and abroad.

Meaghan / @spooky.unicorn

Meaghan is a queer artist from Woodbridge, VA but has spent the majority of her life stuck in Stafford. She is a traditional artist that mostly uses acrylic or watercolor paints on canvas/paper. She also dabbles in hand-painted accessories like shoes, hats, and bags. Her main source of inspiration is dealing with mental illness and trauma. Most paintings are symbolic, but sometimes they are just strange ideas that need to be put on paper. She also finds inspiration in the magic of flora and fauna and of mystical worlds beyond the naked eye. Most paintings are of animals, but sometimes they have human bodies. She believes there is a lot of representation and innocence in animals and then exposure or power in the naked human form.

“I have been making music since 2005 and doing field recordings since 2017. I’ve been fascinated with audio recording since I was a kid, and when I was making music with people, I was often the one doing the recording. So, field recording was a natural and logical step.

I am very deeply awed and inspired when I do field recording. I use both conventional and unconventional microphones and methods. I have contact mics, hydrophones for underwater recording, seismic sensors modified for audio output, a microphone that works off of light, and a special radio tuned to hear frequencies generated by lightning and the earth’s magnetic field.

There are a few reasons I do this. One of them is documentation. There are many sounds and soundscapes that are vanishing rapidly. I grew up here, and I have heard the soundscapes change over the years.

I also make ambient music. I started out with guitar and wound up here. With samples, you’re only limited by your ingenuity.

I also just enjoy listening to the world through high gain mics and headphones. It’s a lot of fun. “

Lady Godiva // @WordsbyladyG

Ghadir Mkhail (Said), 36, is a content creator originally from Jerusalem, Israel currently residing in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Ghadir has moved all of her life, giving her space to grow amongst all walks of life. One thing that has stuck with her since her childhood is wanting to make a difference.

She did not know what her calling was until her obstacles opened her eyes to the world of expression. She began to share her thoughts online. That is where her business partner, Javaris Squire, took notice of something greater, calling her thoughts: poetry. He proposed the idea of featuring her poems onto his blog, Planetofthesanquon.com, every Friday. He then suggested she take it a step further and start her own site. August of 2013, wordsbyladyg.com was born.

“A new blessing in my life has been revealed to me. This blessing is called wordsbyladyg.com . My very own website! I get ecstatic just thinking about it and where it can lead to. Unlike other sites, mine will give us all the opportunity to grow together in wisdom. Life teaches us a lot if we are willing to learn.

The main objective is to spread as much love as I possibly can and to express my thoughts through my writings and pictures. My vision for my site is to eventually turn it into a movement that may change lives for the better. The amount of chaos this misguided world possesses comes from the lack of love given and/or received. The four lettered word love is the exact potion to help heal wounds and open scars. Why not be a part of that movement?!”

Since that day, Ghadir has not looked back. Her accomplishments include, but are not limited to: 1 million loyal viewers (luvaholics are their names), performed spoken word poetry at numerous open mics/social justice events, at a celebrity chef’s book tour event, at a healthcare awareness event, at a memorial in the DMV area/Brooklyn (NY), is a co-host of the Awkward Minority Podcast, a member of the Talkinish podcast, put together a segment for a fashion show that was held at the University of Louisville, the Director of Marketing for Sanquon.com, collaborated with other artists where two of her poems were translated into two beautiful paintings, was featured in a mixtape, two of her poems have been published, she has hosted her own event in March of 2019, has collaborated with loveseamoss.com/shopluxeskincare.com by customizing two different body butters to reflect her poetry, has collaborated with etsy.com/shop/bearycandles by customizing two different candles to also reflect her poetry, she has many more projects coming soon.

Ghadir is hoping she will bring artists together to build within the community. Breaking barriers through poetry.  She can be reached at ghadir@wordsbyladyg.com Twitter(@wordsbyladyg)/IG(@wordsbyladyg/Tiktok(@wordsbyladyg)

Jennifer Galvin // @wildoaksstudio

Virginia based artist, Jennifer Galvin, reclaims discarded material and gives it new life—old t-shirts, jeans, and mat board are transformed into intricate works of art. Jennifer has been making paper since 2002 and has a degree in art from Oregon State University. Her love for making paper has gradually evolved to painting with paper—pulp painting. As the pulp becomes the painting, it is transformed into something entirely new—something beautiful out of what was once discarded. Jennifer loves the hope that comes from giving objects a second life—seeing promise in the forgotten, hope from hopelessness.

Jennifer also enjoys working in alcohol ink and has been working in this medium since 2016. Jennifer Galvin has 25+ years of experience in art instruction. Jennifer has taught art to people of all ages in printmaking, papermaking, and painting. What’s happenin’ everyone? My name is Dante Jenkins, I also go by my artist name Blaze J, or even Blaze is fine as well. I’m an aspiring cartoonist and animator, currently enrolled in school to learn all I can about animation and visual effects, to hopefully one day bring my stories to life.

Currently residing in the great town of Fredericksburg, but will always be a Bay Area kid at heart, being born and raised in Oakland California, which has been the source of inspiration for my comic and animated stories, as well as other artists in the game.

I feel my purpose in life is to make cool, awesome things and share them with the world for all to enjoy, laugh, and be inspired, or as Aaron Blaise would say, to put some beauty back into the world. Peace, much love, and Jah Bless!
